Macquariedale was the first vineyard to become fully Certified Organic/Biodynamic in the Hunter Valley. We are passionate about living sustainably which is carried through in our viticultural and winemaking practises, and our farm life with extensive vegetable gardens, orchards and olive grove, as well as cattle and chickens.
Our journey into the wine industry began in 1993, which became a full-time venture in 1998 with our move out of Sydney to the Hunter Valley. Thomas, our oldest son, has now joined us in the business.
We produce a range of varieties of grapes which all have a fruity clean flavour and our wines are low in sulphur (preservatives) as well as being vegan suitable. Our “preservative free” wine, NBG (Nothing But Grapes) is a light style wine which many of our Wine Club Members and customers really enjoy.
Our small sustainable (off the grid) winery produces small batches of wine which we are able to give our full attention to the natural winemaking process. We have become patient in our journey and allow the wine to begin its fermenting process using the grapes wild yeast which gives the wine the full flavour complexity of our terroir.
When you visit our Cellar Door you will be greeted by either of us or one of our friendly knowledgeable staff, along with Molly and Peppa, our lovely dogs. As well as our extensive range of beautiful sustainable wines you will get to taste, the views are also breathtaking.
